New stuff is a vague, amorphous concept that has existed since the moment the first Aetolia player took their hands off the keyboard and thought, "I'm considering going outside and having a life!" Acting with the speed of His namesake, Laserjesus leapt into action and hurled out the metaphorical net; new stuff! New skills! A new guild! Glow-in-the-dark novelty humgii-shaped condoms! HOLY SHIT, IT'S ALL SO FUCKING SHINY.
The gambit proved so successful at drawing all you dumbfucks back to the game time and again that it's been made official IRE policy, with Galleus promising buckets of shinies for a 5-star vote on Kongregate.
Tl;dr: Aetolians attention spans close to that of sparrows and crack raging boners over the slightest hint of progress.
