The priests were the forerunners of the Luminary guild.
That is, until Rahn got all uppity and decided to kill them with fire, i.e. - axe the guild and replace them with an almost identical one, the major change being the removal of the Healing skillset in favor of Illumination.
No, they are not coming back. Stop asking already.
