Rules

From The Ankyrean Archives

Jump to: navigation, search

What? Rules? I thought 'anything goes'? Well, that's generally the case, only it's not. Ever. It's more along the lines of 'most things go' or maybe even 'some things go, others don't'. Basically it's: be nice, be clever, be funny. That's what we're aiming for. The rules are created by the community, so feel free to adjust them so that your content is allowed (please don't?) and please, please, improve this introduction.

A quick overview

  • Do not make malicious edits. Do not attack users. Play nice.
  • Do not express your dislike of an edit by pageblanking or using strikeout tags.
  • Do not edit before reading the Meta Page.
  • Do not create or edit a character article before reading the character page guidelines.

Posting rules

  1. Three warnings will be given to users who maliciously edit a page. A malicious edit may include the following: Blanking a page, the intentional removal of certain information that is not deemed overly offensive, the deliberate and malicious editing of user pages, and so on. After the three warnings have been given, the user account will be deleted, and said user will not be allowed membership of the Ankyrean Archives permanently.
  2. While we encourage the posting of snarky comments of characters, any excessively defamatory posts about the character's player will be burninated immediately. For the offense in bold, you will be banned for thirty days without a warning, and permanently the second time round. We don't need that sort of crap here. Excessive posting of inappropriate content will result in punishment for the user, ranging from temporary blocks to account deletion.
  3. Bots are generally not allowed for the editing of the Wiki. Should you have a bot that you would like have on the wiki, please ask one of the administrators, first.

If you suspect or find a page that has broken any of the above rules, or would like to ask a few questions pertaining to some of the things above, feel free to report it on the talk pages of any of the administrators.

Guide lines

CTF - That's the first letter of the three rules put together to form an acronym. It's called CTF for a reason. Using IG acronyms for things is bound to capture peoples attention, appeal to them in some form or another. Honestly? I think I may have broken the "fun" rule. And possibly the "clever" one too. and the "True" one >.>

Clever
  • Intelligence and wit are far funnier than vulgarity and swearing, unless you're imitating an Australian. See what I did there? I used intelligence and wit rather than didn't use vulgarity and swearing to make fun of Australians.
  • Intelligence+Wit > Vulgarity+Swearing. Australians are vulgar, Americans are intelligents. Yet Americans has less letters.
True
  • There's not really much point in coming to a Wiki about Aetolia and not being informed. While a little leeway is forgiven (indeed, encouraged for comedic purposes) it should be remembered that a Wiki is, basically, a repository for information. As such, inflammatory, defamatory and otherwise personally offensive material should be avoided. It's one thing to poke fun at a person/organisation and quite another to attack them.
  • Information is good. Misinformation is Syssin.
Fun
  • All in all, visitors should not groan, roll their eyes, or cry when they read the content here.
  • Fun = Repeating another persons rules in different terms.
